Berber Chinrest

A friend of mine had a Berber chinrest. I purchased one and did not like it at first. I began to have shoulder pain this November and returned to using it. It helped me a lot and now I am ordering a viola one.

The best chinrest ever

The Berber chinrest allows for a range of positions: extreme side, side, center... It is extremely comfortable. I recommend this chinrest over every other on the market. It is installed on my three violins and two violas. I have been in the teaching and performing business a very very long time.

A bit tricky but worth it

Okay I ordered this one and couldnt get it on there without it touching the tailpiece on my violin well turns out the brackets it came with are more for a viola so i was going to return it but luckily for me an aquaintance recommended i change out the brackets of my old chinrest to this new berber and it solved my problem. It now clears my tailpiece with no issue.

give it a try

I have tried many chin rests and shoulder rests over the last 20 or so years. I'm currently experimenting with the Berber and so far neck pain has not been a problem. Nothing works for everyone. But, don't rule this one out.

Berber Chinrest

I started using this chinrest after trying others. I have a giraffe neck and the extra thickness of the Berber in combination with my shoulder rest took up a lot of that space between my head and shoulders. My overall posture has benefitted, on and off the violin.

Switch from Flesch (no hump)

Recently purchased an electric violin and needed to replace the stock chinrest. I have been using a flesch with no hump on my acoustic. (I am tall, 193cm, and have a long neck.) Rather than just get another flesch, I decided to tryout the Berber. The berber's fit on my chin is much more secure as compared to that of the flesch. Sitting height and head positioning are nearly identical for me between the flesch and berber. The extended wing of the berber adds so much more control. My left arm is much more relaxed as a result. If you have a flesch no hump that fits your positioning, but has a bit of a feel of a wiggle, consider this chinrest. I just purchased a 2nd for my accoustic.
