From our beginnings as a small workplace of craftsmen in Offenbach near the Main River, a modern company has evolved, with over 150 employees. In former times sheep gut was the sole raw material available, but now state-of-the-art synthetics and various steel and non-steel strands, such as gold, tungsten, silver or titanium are used.

Since I'd been asked to play cello in an all baroque recital with my string quartet I thought I would try a gut string which I'd never done so before. This was a disaster for me. Since I have fine tuners and the strings didn't come with a knot or ball end, it was a challenge to install. The string sounded uneven (some notes were very shrill, some were super mellow). Maybe if I tried it for more than a couple of days, it would have had more potential. I couldn't bear to play with any longer, so I may never know. At least I have a gut string to show other curious people.
