Varied Repertoire with Great Expressive Potential

This book contains pieces from all four style periods. They remain in first position. The key signatures contain up to three sharps and up to two flats. I particularly enjoy the expressive possibilities in these solos. They require mature bow control and dynamic nuances. "Abendlied" by Alexander Fesca is to be played rubato. The piano accompaniments are interesting. Sometimes the soloist has the opportunity to play an accompanying figure while the piano contains the melody. In "Pastorale" by Negely, the violin begins with the primary melody while the piano contains a secondary melody. Soon they switch parts. This tossing back and forth of melodies continues for the rest of the piece. Most of the solos sound fine alone. With the piano, they provide a wonderful ensemble experience.
