Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Violin String Set - 4/4 Size - Medium Gauge - Loop E

Very powerful and brilliant sounding strings. Quick response and sounds full in both the high and low registers. However, they don't last long and I had to replace them after a few months

I found these strings to have such a great tone! They were loud and pure. I loved these strings as long as they were on my violin. The only downside that I found was that they went false a little sooner that I wanted or expected. Two and a half months. For the time that they were good, I loved them!

My violin is an Albani made circa 1700. Its dimensions are slightly smaller than a typical full-size violin. It has a warm, soft, but rich tone, yet a powerful sound that projects well when using Pirastro Eudoxa strings. Since the 1960s, my standard strings have been the Pirastro Eudoxa, although from time to time I used the less powerful Pirastro Gold Label when I didnt have enough money to buy the Eudoxa strings. Over the last three years, I have experimented with several strings offered by Shar Music: Larsen; Pirastro Eudoxa, Olive, Obligato, Evah Pirazzi, and Wonder Tone Solo; and Thomastick Dominants and Vision Titanium. So far, the most satisfactory sounding strings have been the Eudoxa and Olive. I recall that both the Pirazzi and the Obligato strings were once touted as being close to the Eudoxa sound. I did not find this to be the case. The Pirazzi strings were very taut on my violin, which made them more difficult to play, and consequently they did not have the warm sound that I had expected. But, these are powerful, stable and sturdy strings.

Initially, I loved this string (I have purchased 4 sets over the last 2 years) - beautiful rich and projecting tone on my contemporary violin (Italian, 1993). However, now I'm hunting for a replacement maker as each Evah Pirazzi set has taken almost 3 weeks to "settle out" after initial use (I practice regularly and play 4x/wk) and soon after exhibits annoying "wolfs" on my E or A string. I sure wish these had worked out for my violin...

I love these strings. I had always used Dominants growing up, as the standard string, but when I got out of college I decided to try some new ones. I was introduced to these by the Shar repair shop, and my violin sounded more powerful, brilliant, and sang better than ever! I highly recommend these strings if you are looking for a resonant bright sound for all types of playing. The only thing is they lose their initial spunk after about 3 or 4 months, if you are playing on a regular basis.

While I normally use the Viennese Melange set from Infeld, I tried these out at the request of my violin's maker (Anton Krutz of KC Strings). I would echo several of the comments from other reviewers -- the strings took a long time to play in, and then did not last as long as one would hope with an investment like this. If it were not for my high level of pleasure with the Viennese Melange, I might have considered sticking with these another time or two, but honestly, it's just not worth the investment for the few weeks' worth of 'nice' (not 'superb') sound.

I love these strings on older violins (80+ years). They're rich, powerful, responsive and crisp without being too dry. Excellent solo strings, very colorful and project well. Fairly high tension, but comfortable to play. On my 2005 violin, however, they sound metallic and are just dry and loud. No matter what, though, they're very stretchy at first and take a while to settle in when put on.
