Shostakovich, Dmitri - Four Pieces from "The Gadfly", Op 97 - Viola and Piano - arranged by Vadim Borisovsky - DSCH Edition
Drawn from Shostakovich's film score to the 1955 film The Gadfly, these four pieces were arranged for viola and piano by Vadim Borisovsky, violist of the Beethoven Quartet (the group that premiered many of Shostakovich's string quartets). The film music was, of course scored for symphony orchestra, but numerous arrangements have been made for other instrumentations, particularly of the famous Romance, which is the fourth piece in this collection.
