A useful arrangement of the third and most popular of Liszts six short Consolations for piano, published in 1850. Through careful division of thematic material between the two violin parts, Amy Barlowe allows the melody to speak for itself, in keeping with Liszts original intention. Pizzicato is used to haunting effect, while the piano accompaniment is translucent, yet always integral to the overall sound. This is a well worked-out and tidy score of an atmospheric and magical miniature, worthy of any recital program.
